Storyline
Based on the first of a trilogy by Tom Rob Smith and set in the Stalin era of the Soviet Union. The plot is about an idealistic pro-Stalin security officer who decides to investigate a series of child murders in a country where supposedly this sort of crime doesn't exist. The state would not hear of the existence of a child murderer let alone a serial killer. He gets demoted and exiled but decides, with just the help of his wife, to continue pursuing the case.Written by Arnold

This film is, without a doubt, the best movie in it's genre I've seen in a long time. The cast is fabulous, the shots are breathtaking, and , accurate or not, it gives you a taste of that typical hierarchical hypocrisy which exists and or existed in every country since the Middle Ages until now. Only the scenery has changed. This movie is fiction, surely, but its making pulls you into a certain realism you can not escape from. Marvelous. The end scene will surely let tears come into your eyes. Any director who achieves this, is to be honored. Not for action or spectacle addicted movie-fans.
